First the girls sun bathed on a rock by the pond.
Next Hitty Lynn took the girls frog hunting.
Hitty Iris Raikes is no stranger to the out-of-doors, she walked right up and talked to the frog.
Later they found another frog that was sunbathing too.
On the drive home they saw a one room school house built near the year that Ancestor Hitty was carved. They wondered if Hitty's original owner attended a school such as this.
Before leaving they enjoyed the view behind the school house and marveled at what a lovely place Maine is with it's sea coasts and inland mountains.
It was a wonderful day.

I was surprised by Maine's one room school house because in our part of the country (Pacific NW, USA) our old school houses are always built of wood. I guess I shouldn't have assumed that all one-room school houses were built that way!
me too, Barb!~ All of ours (and there are a surprising number of them still around in my area) are wood. I;d love to see this one up close!
