Patsy Joan

I recently adopted my second antique doll, Pasy Joan.  She came to me via information from a member of Mainely Dolls Club (http://www.mainelydollsclub.org/).  She was the childhood doll of a woman in Ellsworth who was born in 1924.

Patsy Joan is an Effanbee doll circa 1931, she still wears her original dress and shoes.  She sits in my mother's baby cradle which was made by my grandfather in 1924.  The cradle spread was mine in 1957.

When I told Mrs. Haskell that my plan for her childhood 'baby' was to keep her for the next 30 years then pass her on to our new granddaugher, Cora Grace, Mrs. Haskell had tears in her eyes when she said, "My mother's mother's name was Grace and her friend was Cora."  I knew then it was destiny that I give Patsy Joan a new home.  I could tell Mrs. Haskell didn't really want to sell her beloved doll but she wanted to be sure her childhood friend would have a good home, which she will.  Now I have to make her a new wardrobe and sewing is not my thing.
