Reborn Dolls

AnnieH, one of the members of Hittygirls, sent me this photo of her favorite 'reborn' dolls.  In addition to collecting and playing with Hitty making reborn dolls is another hobby, although she admits that Hit.ty takes up much more of her time these days.  I have to agree there, my Hittys do the same with me.  Photos used with permission

AnnieH explains the process below:

"You have to take a baby with a face like these...(realistic.) and tear them apart.. it's a big procedure to make one.. you drill out the nose holes so they can breathe and strip the paint inside the head and arms and legs and repaint it so it looks mottled like a newborn.. I made these two cloth bodies..and they are filled with sterile sand. and put all back together...they feel real to hold..Mine wear real babie clothes and are the size of my own babies when they were young."  "These are my two favorites, Jr. and Amerika(said Am-mer-reeka).

After seeing these two cuties I remembered that I had adopted a lifelike doll at a doll show in 2007. After returning home from the show I placed him in a wicker basket and put him in the spare room.  I took him out today and found he was a 'reborn'. His given name is Zachery Cody, I call him Cody.
Here he is sleeping in my grandson's carseat.
