Chapter III - Hitty Her First Hundred Years by Rachel Field
"...It was goldenrod and asters all the way to Portland. "There, Kate," said the Captain, suddenly pointing with his whip, "that's the first mountain-ash tree I've seen this fall." There, sure enough, at the edge of some woods was a slim, tallish tree loaded down with bunches of orange berries. The tree seemed to bend under their weight and they shone like burnished balls. "That's Hitty's tree," cried Phoebe, "and it's magic!""

I didn't know you had a Mountain Ash! How sweet! The Hittys seem to be enjoying their climb.

Hi Julie,
I sort of have a Mountain Ash, it was on Mom's property in the front yard. After my step father died we donated their home to the fire department to use for training as it was over 100 year old farm house and needed a lot of work. The one thing I told the fire department was they had to save the Mountain Ash and they did. So yes, I now own a Mountain Ash but I like to think it's really Hitty Ruth's.
