Maine-ly Dolls Club meeting 03/06/10

March 6, 2010

The Maine-ly Dolls Club March meeting was at my house.  We hadn't met since Christmas so there was a lot of items to discuss. Twenty two women were in attendance. There was a sales table at which I purchased a pair of shoes for my Ginny and a cute nonmarked 'Ginny type' walker doll.  All she needs now is a cute party dress or maybe some baby doll pajamas. Remember baby doll pj's, I loved mine.
It was my turn to present the program and it was on Dollar Store Dolls.  The idea to do this program was taken from the Winter issue of Doll News magazine, a publication of the United Federation of Dolls Clubs (UFDC).  The article titled "Modern Pretty Porcelain Petite Dolls" by Jerrine Drennan describes these type of dolls and that many are most commonly found in Dollar stores.  The dolls make wonderful 'dolls' for our larger sized dolls weather they are antique or modern and they are often overlooked as collectibles.

I chose to show my Dollar store type dolls or dolls that were purchased for under $10.00 as part of my program.

My Twinn doll Ruth shows off her collection of under $10.00 dolls while my Raikes Bobette shows off her collection.

My little dolls were purchased at dollar stores, in the Christmas corners of gift shops or stores such as Rite-Aid, online, second hand collectible shops, doll shows and yard sales.

Double click on the photos to see the little dolls in more detail.

Bobette's Seatee is a jewelry box found at Wal-Mart that I recovered.
