Pot of Gold Not At The End Of My Rainbow
It's been common place this summer on sunny days clouds will develop and it will begin to rain about five minutes before it's time to leave work. This afternoon was no exception however the drive home was quite interesting. First as I was driving East on Route 9 I saw a strange black cloud that almost looked like it was coming down out of the sky to touch the ground. Since it was raining hard and quite windy I was concerned that it could develop into a tornado. Tornadoes in Maine are not common but we do get them, I was in one once three hours north of my home in Presque Isle and I was not looking forward to being in one today. Luckily the clouds did not develop into a tornado but the driving home continued to be strange. As I turned to go North on Route 178 it rained heavily, so heavy that I had to slow down from my normal 45 mph to 30 mph. The strangest thing was that in the pouring rain the sun was shining brightly on my left side, so brightly I had to put on my sunglasses. It was strange to be driving in the pouring rain with sunglasses on. I told myself that when I get to Anderson's field I would need to look for a rainbow. I didn't have to wait to get to Anderson's field, as I rounded the curve by the boat landing I could see the rainbow in front of the trees to my right, it sure looked strange to see the trees through the prism of light. I thought to myself when I get to Anderson's field I will see the end of the rainbow but when I got on the straight part of the road I saw the end of the rainbow in front of me right in the middle of the road, I was going to drive through it. I focused my eyes on the middle of the road for fear I would run into the pot of gold but it was nowhere to be found. I presumed it must have been on the other end of the rainbow, maybe some lucky soul found it. I always want to believe there is a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, maybe my pot of gold was being fortunate enough to make it home safely.
